Sustainability: Shared values put caring on the curriculum and the community

Parents and students in China are very aware that some things can have a negative effect on students’ health and study. Consequently, they expect schools to be environmentally friendly, by being clean, safe, and healthy. As multiple award winners and consistent winners of top rankings in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, Sodexo is committed to sourcing food and equipment that are sustainable, of high quality and environmentally friendly.

We believe that making money is not the only purpose of a company, just as academic success is not the only benchmark of a good education. We share these values with our clients and take the lead to give back to local communities by engaging students in the Stop Hunger program.

Our way of giving back to the community

Partnering with one education client, Sodexo gives back to the local community by providing a free dinner for disabled people once a week. Up to the end of FY13, over 1,500kg of food had been donated to those most in need.

With the strong support of our education clients in China, we have collected over 20,000RMB through the sale of special lunches, desserts, chocolate calendars and popcorn. The money was donated to three charitable organizations: New Life Center, Little Flower Project and Agape House, benefiting more than 50 children in need of support.
