On August 4, 2016, Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life services, partnering with China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF), delivered diversified training courses to over 70 managerial staff and cooks from 40 Hope Kitchens in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The training aims to popularize the knowledge of nutrition and health and raise the awareness of food education among the hope kitchen practitioners, ultimately contributing to the nutrition and health of the children in poverty-stricken rural areas. As such, CYDF awarded Sodexo China “Benevolent Enterprise”.

The trainers are composed of over 20 Sodexo China employees, including dietitians, catering experts, HSE managers, restaurant design experts and veteran chefs, etc. Based on comprehensive research and understanding of the local raw material and eating habits, the team designed nutrition-balanced menu and provided training programs widely covering nutrition and health, hygiene and safety, culinary skills, etc.

GU Lan, Director of Partner Cooperation Department of CYDF, said, “CYDF is very grateful to Sodexo for its great support in this training. By virtue of its professional advantages, Sodexo has presented a live training on nourishment know-how and culinary skills to cooks and headmasters in rural schools. It is expected that we will continue to work together in improving the nutritional status of the children in rural areas.”

Bruno VAQUETTE, Country President, Sodexo China, said, “We feel honored to cooperate with CYDF again in the ‘Hope Kitchen’ program. Last year, we donated the first Sodexo ‘Hope Kitchen’, enabled nearly 200 students in the rural areas having nutritious meal, and started our cooperation with CYDF. Leveraging our global expertise resources and over 20-year local experience, we hope the cooperation would be long-run, truly improving the quality of life for the children most in need.”

The hope journey is to be continued this autumn in Hubei, co-supported by CYDF and Sodexo China, contributing to the healthy grow-up of our future.
