The highly anticipated awards were announced at a well-attended ceremony in Shanghai. As a benchmark award in China’s sustainability field, this ceremony was hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, co-supported by the Australian Chamber of Commerce Shanghai and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. This year’s event brought together over 140 representatives from government, business, and academia to witness China's cutting-edge practices and global vision in ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance). Since its establishment by BritCham Shanghai in 2022, the Sustainability & Innovation Awards recognize individuals, companies, and organizations making outstanding contributions to sustainable development in China. The awards feature eight distinct categories, highlighting a range of ESG achievements. Sodexo was recognized with the “Sustainable Consumer Engagement Award” for its exceptional contributions to sustainable development.

Sodexo entered the Chinese market in 1995. So far, Sodexo China has a dedicated team of 17,000 employees across over 950 sites, serving over 1.2 million consumers on a daily basis. Thanks to its two activities of food and facilities management services, Sodexo meets all the challenges of everyday life with a dual goal: to improve the quality of life of our employees and those we serve, and contribute to the economic, social and environmental progress in the communities where we operate. For Sodexo, growth and social commitment go hand in hand. Sodexo’s commitment to sustainability dates back to 2017, when the company launched its “Better Tomorrow 2025” roadmap. This long-term strategy focuses on three key pillars: people, communities, and the environment, aligning closely with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on this strategic foundation, we are now developing the “Better Tomorrow 2028” plan—a forward-looking blueprint for sustainable development.

To further strengthen our sustainability practices, we’ve introduced a series of targeted initiatives designed to actively engage both employees and consumers in making more sustainable choices. By working closely with our clients to co-create sustainable solutions, we actively promote green supply chains, implement eco-friendly cleaning methods, and drive initiatives that reduce energy use, cut emissions, and minimize food waste. These efforts bring all stakeholders together in a shared commitment to sustainability, integrating sustainability into every aspect of our daily operations.

Ricardo CASTRO, Growth and Commercial Officer, Sodexo Greater China, commented: “By making our operations more sustainable, we can not only improve efficiency and reduce costs but also provide our clients with more valuable experiences, thus driving long-term business growth.”

“We are honored to receive the Sustainable Consumer Engagement Award, proving that small actions drive big changes. Empowering consumers with simple, sustainable actions are how we turn everyday choices into collective climate impact. Millions of small steps—like choosing plant-based meals or reducing waste—add up to transformative change.” added, Julie Koch, Sodexo Greater China's Sustainability Specialist.
