Shanghai, May 25 - 26, 2023 - Sodexo, the world leader in Quality of Life Services, held “Sodexo Food Package” donation activity with Oasis Food Bank.
Sodexo recruited volunteers from Sodexo through its non-profit organization Stop Hunger to distribute 273 food packages to low-income families in Shanghai that have member with serious disease or disability, contributing to the building of eco-friendly, harmonious and sustainable community. Meanwhile, Sodexo also launched “The Most Beautiful Food Package”, a charitable funds raising program to provide help to more people in need.
In 1996, Sodexo established Stop Hunger, an international non-profit organization, aiming to work for a world without hunger through sustainable actions by leveraging the unique ecosystem of Sodexo. This organization has helped many regions and countries in the world reduce hunger.
The food packages in this activity consist of staple foods such as rice and oil aiming to provide the families in need with nutritious foods. On the afternoon of May 25, around 30 volunteers recruited through Stop Hunger packed over 200 boxes of foods totaling approximately 2 tons. Starting from May 26, the volunteers drove across 9 districts in Shanghai and distributed the food packages to the families in need.
This activity is not only a practice of social responsibility for Sodexo as an enterprise citizen, but also a reflection of its brand values. Sodexo commits to make contribution to the society through various public welfare activities, and hopes to encourage more enterprises and individuals to join in and promote the development of the society.
Sodexo first cooperated with Oasis Food Bank in 2020, and donated 100 food packages to the families in need through this philanthropic organization; in 2021, Sodexo participated in E.G.G.WALKATHON with Oasis Food Bank. In this activity, the volunteers walked 8 km in the heat in Guangzhou to raise funds for the children in trouble due to lack of or improper family wardship in an effort to help them fight against malnutrition. In March 2022 when Shanghai was still affected by the COVID pandemic, Sodexo partnered with Oasis Food Bank on a charitable event involving donation of gift packs in Shanghai. Volunteers from Sodexo were recruited through Stop Hunger Foundation to deliver gift packs consisting of food and daily necessities to 300 needy families in Shanghai - they were nominated by 15 non-profit organizations - in a show of love and care for such families during the COVID pandemic.
Shirley Shen, Director of Brand and Communications and Head of Corporate Responsibility of Sodexo Greater China said: “Our cooperation with Oasis Food Bank started in 2020. This food package activity once again delivered our care and love to around 300 poor families. This activity is not only a fulfillment of our social responsibility, but also an indication of our active participation in public welfare activities. In the future, Sodexo will continue to contribute to public welfare activities. At the same time, we also hope to inspire more enterprises and individuals to join us and together contribute to the development of the society.”
