Sodexo is ranked in WBA’s first Food and Agriculture Benchmark, which measures how the world's 350 most influential companies in the industry are transforming the food system for a more sustainable future. Sodexo is 1st in the food service sector, and 30th in the overall benchmark.
WBA’s Food and Agriculture Benchmark targets to holistically assess companies from farm to fork on their environmental, nutritional and social impact, providing a unique, overarching analysis of where the most influential food and agriculture companies stand on food systems transformation. It is the largest benchmark in the food and agriculture sector, assessing over 350 companies across the food value chain, which are headquartered in 41 different countries.
“We are proud to be in the first edition of the food and agriculture benchmark, and especially to rank number one in our sector. These results show our long-lasting commitment to embed corporate responsibility in everything we do since the creation of Sodexo in 1966. The private sector has a vital role to play and monitoring our actions is essential to stay on track and accelerate progress. Our effort to reduce our impact on the environment has been recognized and encourages us to continue.” – Maria Outters, Sodexo Senior Vice President, Corporate Responsibility
Sodexo ranks at the top of the food service segment, displaying several leading practices, including:
- Sodexo’s carbon emissions reduction target, which has been approved from the Science Based Targets initiative. This aligns our businesses with the most ambitious aim of the Paris Agreement, to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels
- Sodexo’s effort to reduce food waste in our operations, mainly through the deployment of our WasteWatch program, which helps our teams to capture food waste data and implement new preventive actions and behavioral changes.
- Sodexo’s promotion of Sustainable Eating and low carbon meals, including our commitment to increase our menu mix target for plant-based meals to 33%
- Sodexo’s Corporate Responsibility approach based on a thorough materiality assessment regularly carried out to ensure that our roadmap is relevant and covers all our stakeholders’ expectations
- The effectiveness of Sodexo’s Corporate responsibility roadmap, Better Tomorrow 2025, and its reporting.
