Sodexo, the World Leader in Quality of Life services, is a proud partner of the 24 Hour Race, a global movement to end slavery.

As the Official Food & Services Partner of the 24 Hour Race in Singapore, Sodexo collaborated with the organisers to support the health and well-being of participants throughout the race. Drawing on its global expertise in the education segment, Sodexo was able to offer a delectable selection of meals which satisfied the runners’ nutritional needs.

In its 6th year now, 24 Hour Race serves to raise awareness and funds to end slavery. For 24 consecutive hours, students ran in relays with the aim of completing as many laps as possible. The race is fully organised by students, and was concurrently held in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia from 14 to 15 November 2015.

Laurent Hochet, Operations Director – Education, Southeast Asia, said: Sodexo is honoured to be part of the 24 Hour Race. We are very impressed with this initiative, which is entirely managed by students, for students. These passionate youths inspire us to continuously contribute to improving the Quality of Life of people in our community.

266 students from six schools participated in the Singapore leg of 24 Hour Race 2015, held at the Gardens by the Bay. With the nutritionally-balanced meals specially prepared by Sodexo, the runners were able to focus their energy on pushing their limits and completing the race.

Carren Hopkins, Executive Director, 24 Hour Race 2015 Singapore, said: Participating in the 24 Hour Race is a demanding physical challenge for our student runners. For this reason, it is paramount that they are supplied with the necessary nutrients to persevere and face the challenge. We are so grateful that Sodexo helped us tremendously in making sure the well-being of our runners was taken care of. It’s been a fantastic experience working with Sodexo and I look forward to continuing our partnership for future races.

In Malaysia, Sodexo also provided the team from Epsom College in Malaysia with food and logistical support, enabling the runners to concentrate fully on the race.

In total, 24 Hour Race 2015 raised over HKD 2,300,000 (SGD 415,000) for beneficiaries from seven charities.
